Skeye successfully conducted a pilot project with the producer of harbour equipment for container terminals.
The operation consisted of a drone inspection, 90 meters high, ship to shore container crane and was executed on one of Rotterdam’s biggest container terminals during day-to-day operations.
Operating from different heights in the crane, the Skeye team was able to manoeuvre the drone into confined spaces in order to collect the very detailed data required by the client. The challenging environment and impressive constructions demanded much of Skeye’s experienced pilots.
After studying the data on the different critical points of the construction, all parties came to the conclusion that there is sufficient added value in the drone inspections to market them from a more solid working relationship.
The added value can be found in the lower inspection costs but especially in the shorter downtime of the crane before becoming operational again.
